The Code Enforcement Office enforces zoning, building and property maintenance laws. Our goal is to ensure public safety while improving our city. We issue permits that comply with laws and city ordinances.

The Planning and Zoning Commission meets the second Wednesday of each month.

"I have served Grants since January 2015. I have worked hard to bring economic development by encouraging residents to keep their properties and homes clean and free of all trash, junk, rubbish, and weeds. We also receive applications for all kinds of permits. We always look forward to serving the residents of Grants."

Community service can be completed by picking up trash.  Come to our office to get started.  We will help you keep track of your service hours and sign off on your court paperwork.

Code Enforcement handles addressing new home and business properties.  If you need to confirm that your residence or business is listed the 911 GIS System, just give us a call us to verify this.

If you received a letter from the Code Enforcer about your property, call us if you need more time to finish the work or if you have any questions.

Chickens are defined as domestic livestock; as a result, the only place they are allowed in the City of Grants is in the agricultural zones, which include, (A-1) Rural Agricultural and (A-R) Agricultural/Residential. They are not allowed in any other zones.  If you have questions about this, contact our office. This would also be true for guinea fowl, ducks, turkeys, geese, quail, pigeons, or any other bird that is categorized in this way.

When starting service at a new location, the electric company requires a floodplain verification. Our office can verify the floodplain status of your property and provide a letter to the electric company.
